In his first game back after a preseason calf injury, Russell Wilson threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 37-15 victory over the New York Jets.
Despite some early struggles, Wilson found his rhythm and helped improve the Steelers' record to 5-2. Wilson’s standout target was George Pickens, who caught five passes for 111 yards. The Steelers made the switch back to Wilson after Justin Fields, who had led them to a 4-2 record, filled in during his absence.
Meanwhile, the highly anticipated reunion between Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers in New York didn’t go as planned. The Jets, who had traded for Adams just days before and made sweeping changes by firing head coach Robert Saleh, were unable to capitalize on his presence. Adams, targeted nine times, finished with just three catches for 30 yards. Rodgers threw for 276 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted twice by Pittsburgh’s Beanie Bishop Jr.
Despite the loss, the Jets received a boost with pass rusher Haason Reddick ending his contract holdout, adding a key player to their defense as they try to turn around a 2-5 start.
