Firefighters Rescue 11-Year-Old Trapped Between Boulders for 9 Hours in New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, an 11-year-old boy who had slipped between two boulders near his school and remained trapped for over nine hours was successfully rescued early Monday morning.

According to Hillsborough Fire Chief Kenny Stafford, rescuers managed to free the boy from the boulders in Windsor around 3:15 a.m. The child was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation and has since been released, as confirmed by the Wediko School, where he is a student.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening. The school, which is a residential treatment center for boys, reported that the boy was exploring a rocky area on campus under supervision when he became stuck between the boulders. “When sticks and debris gave way beneath him, he slipped into the crevice,” the school said in a statement.

Despite the efforts of several staff members to free him, they were unable to do so and called for local emergency services. Firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. and found the boy trapped in a large boulder’s crevice. They utilized ropes and a lubricant to extricate him.

The rescue operation, which involved first responders from at least five surrounding communities, as well as the state police and Fish and Game Department, continued through the night and was successfully completed in the early morning hours.
